One of Dorset’s landmarks, the Worlds End is located on the A31 between Poole & Dorchester.
The land that the Worlds End stands on has been welcoming weary travellers for hundreds of years, though in the last century it was so named for soldiers, airmen and conscripts that last stopped there before being deployed during WW2.
The World's End in Almer was at one time believed to be the oldest pub in Dorset; sadly it was destroyed by fire in 1991 and was raised to the ground and rebuilt soon after. The pub was refurbished by H&W in 2015 and is decorated in tribute to those who gave their service, both abroad and on the Homefront during the Second World War.
As guests are so fond of the welcoming, traditional atmosphere with the open fireplace, weathered flagstones and exposed beams, original materials were used where possible, such as the reclaimed beams and original flooring.
Families are made most welcome in the pub, with smaller appetite meals, children’s menu and a brand new play area outside for little ones to blow off some steam!
The Worlds End is also popular with ramblers and the surround area is a very enjoyable, mostly level walk across farmland and along attractive high hedged bridleways passing through the pretty villages of Winterborne Zelston and Winterborne Tompson.
We love dogs, as all good pubs should! Well-behaved dogs are welcome in our bar and outdoor areas. Wi-Fi access is free to all our guests (subject to availability).
The Worlds End, Almer is proud to be part of the Hall & Woodhouse family. For more information on Hall & Woodhouse and to find other Hall & Woodhouse houses click here.
